You know, in many people's cases, they decide they want to pass most of their wealth on to their children, and that's a perfectly legitimate choice. In my case, I think it's better for society and better for my children if the vast bulk of the wealth that I'm lucky enough to be shepherding at this point, if that goes back to causes that are important, things like access to technology, education, medical research, social services and a variety of things.

My Comcast POP server has been down for 48 hours and just came back online. This allows me to use Outlook to get my email rather than their tedious Web interface. I do find it remarkable that Comcast provides no status information anywhere on their site (that I can find) where a body might look to see server status. Perhaps I'm just spoiled from work. About the best they offer is a useless support agent ("How to set up Outlook," yeah, got that, thanks) and the logically inappropriate opportunity to email them a support question.
